Cretan Mixed Case
The family-run Domaine Lyrarakis was set up in 1966 and has long been a champion of obscure local varieties on Crete. There are apparently 11 recognised indigenous grape varieties on the island and Lyrarakis has been credited with saving one of them, Dafni, from near extinction.
We first started listing the Lyrarakis wines just over a year ago and were delighted to read Victoria Moore's recent write-up of Domaine Lyrarakis in The Daily Telegraph Saturday section (27th April 2019). It is an interesting read and confirms our opinion of Lyrarakis: fascinating wines from a country with a longstanding and continuous history of wine-making, and wines which are very good to drink, especially with food.
